ARTIST DINNER #5 | MEET VISUAL ARTIST LÊ PHI LONG
Celebrating the first anniversary of ÚNU and ANIMA with bespoke spatial installations and an intimate dinner alongside contemporary visual artist Lê Phi Long.

An Established Contemporary Voice in Vietnamese Visual Art
As part of our first anniversary celebration series, ÚNU collaborates with ANIMA Saigon Boutique Hotel to present the fifth edition of Meet the Artist featuring multidisciplinary visual artist Lê Phi Long.
Born in 1988 and graduated in Interior Design from Hue University of Arts in 2012, Lê Phi Long is currently based between Ho Chi Minh City and Da Lat. He has established himself as a prominent voice in contemporary Vietnamese art and has been an active member of the MoT+++ art collective since 2020.

Long creative practice expands far beyond the flat surface of the canvas to encompass painting, conceptual objects, and site specific installations. Grounded in meticulous research into historical, geographical, and cultural shifts, his art explores memory and contemporary existential consciousness.

His notable solo exhibitions include Leisure at Vin Gallery in 2024, Land of Leisure at Manzi Art Space Hanoi in 2019, and The Prolonged Interventions at The Factory Contemporary Arts Centre in 2016. In addition, he has participated in prestigious international artist residencies and programs in France, including Cité Internationale des Arts Paris, as well as in South Korea, Taiwan, Belgium, and the United States.

Imagined Archaeological Relics Sculpted at ANIMA
As the inaugural artist shaping the aesthetic identity of ANIMA Saigon Boutique Hotel, Lê Phi Long introduced the spatial narrative from his acclaimed projects Indochina Wanderlust and Leisure. His artistic palette captures the senses through deep lapis lazuli blues and iridescent metallic patinas.

Most uniquely, Long directly intervened upon the guest room walls with hand carved raw plaster reliefs. These textured installations evoke fissures of time and memory, reminiscent of imagined archaeological fragments subtly breaking through modern architecture. The evening begins with an intimate Art Walk and Room Tour, giving guests a firsthand opportunity to decipher the layers of stories embedded in each room alongside the artist.

An Intimate Culinary Dialogue at ÚNU
Following the spatial journey, guests gather at ÚNU on the ground floor for the curated Artist Dinner. This multisensory dining experience pairs imaginative contemporary dishes and craft drinks thoughtfully designed around the artist perspective and philosophical themes. It offers a rare space for meaningful conversation and unhurried connection where gastronomy meets contemporary visual creation.
